Motorized blinds and shades in Vancouver

HT Smart Shades put every window on a remote, an app, or a schedule. We spec the motor, build the shade locally, and install and program it with our own crew — battery, DC, or AC, matched to your building. Works with Matter, Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Control4, plus Somfy and Lutron motors. Backed by the HT Worry-Free Warranty.

How it's powered

Three ways to power your shades

Every HT Smart Shade runs on one of three motor types. Which one fits depends on your windows, your building, and whether you're retrofitting or building new. We spec it with you — and the same three options are available across our HT Smart Shades and Somfy lines.

Battery motors

Rechargeable motors that mount inside the roller tube. No wiring, no electrician — the simplest path for condos, rentals, and retrofits. Recharge runs for months between charges, and our Somfy line offers the same wire-free convenience over Zigbee.

DC motors (low-voltage)

Quiet low-voltage motors wired to a discreet transformer. Ideal for whole-home automation and new construction where you want silent operation and nothing visible on the window. The most popular hardwired choice for homes.

AC motors (line-voltage)

Line-voltage motors built for larger, heavier shades and high cycle counts. The workhorse for big window walls and commercial spaces where shades run all day. Wired during construction or renovation.

Smart-home ready

Works with the systems your home already runs on

HT Smart Shades connect to the platform your home or building already uses, so everything works from day one — no aftermarket adapters, no compatibility surprises. We match the motor and protocol to your control system before we build.

  • Matter — the universal smart-home standard, supported natively.
  • Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, and Google Home — app and voice control.
  • Control4 and other third-party automation systems.
  • Somfy over Zigbee wire-free, plus DC and AC hardwired motors.
  • Lutron Sivoia QS for premium whole-home integration.
Three systems, one accountable team

The motor systems we build with

We build the shade. The motor is matched to it. Most of our motorized work runs on two systems — our own HT Smart Shades line and Somfy — with Lutron available for premium integrations.

HT Smart Shades — our in-house motor line

Our own motorized line, in battery, DC, and AC — what we recommend for most homes: quiet operation, app and voice control, and native Matter, HomeKit, Alexa, Google Home, and Control4 support. One team specs it, builds it, installs it, and backs it with the HT Worry-Free Warranty.

Somfy

The most recognized name in motorized shading. As a manufacturer, we buy Somfy motors direct and build the shade around them — Zigbee wire-free, DC, and AC, plus established RTS, and Somfy SDN for commercial.

Where motorized shading makes the difference

For homeowners

Whole-home motorization

Run every shade in your home from one remote, app, or voice command. Set morning light, afternoon UV protection, and evening privacy on a schedule. Battery motors make retrofits simple; DC and AC integrate cleanly into new construction.

For condos & strata

Smart shades for high-rise living

Floor-to-ceiling glass, strong UV, and privacy concerns — motorized shading solves all three. Battery motors need no wiring changes, and wall-mounted controls install without drilling into strata-restricted surfaces.

Multi-family and commercial

DC and AC motors wired during construction, centrally controlled, consistent across every unit and integrated with building systems.

Scheduling and energy savings

Program shades to respond to time of day and sun position. Cut cooling load in summer, hold heat in winter — automatically.

What motorized shading looks like with HT Blinds

From single-room upgrades to whole-home automation — here's what working with us looks like.

We motorized every shade in the house and it's the best upgrade we've made. One app runs the whole home, and the battery motors went in without an electrician.
Homeowner — West Vancouver, BC
The motors were wired in during our renovation. HT Blinds coordinated with our electrician and the result is seamless — nothing visible on the window, everything on a schedule.
Homeowner — North Vancouver, BC
Battery shades in the bedrooms, hardwired in the living room. They matched the motor to each room and programmed it all before they left.
Homeowner — Burnaby, BC
They delivered motorized shades across the project on schedule, and the install crew knew exactly what they were doing.
Systems Integrator — smart-home company
We standardized on HT for motorization. Specs were clean, coordination was easy, and the shades just work.

Motorized blinds — common questions

What types of motorized blinds does HT Blinds offer?

HT Blinds offers HT Smart Shades in three motor types — battery, DC (low-voltage), and AC (line-voltage) — plus Somfy and Lutron Sivoia QS motors. We build the shade locally and install and program it with our own crew across Metro Vancouver.

Do motorized blinds work with Alexa and Google Home?

Yes. HT Smart Shades work with Matter, Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Control4, plus other third-party automation systems. We match the motor and protocol to your control system before we build.

What's the difference between battery, DC, and AC motors?

Battery motors are rechargeable and need no wiring — best for condos and retrofits. DC motors are quiet low-voltage motors wired to a transformer — best for whole-home automation and new builds. AC motors are line-voltage and built for larger shades and heavy daily use — common in commercial spaces.

Can motorized blinds be added without new wiring?

Yes. Battery motors install on any existing window with no electrical work, which makes them ideal for condos, rentals, and renovations. Our Somfy Zigbee wire-free line offers the same no-wiring convenience.

Does HT Blinds install motorized blinds in condos?

Yes. Battery motors are especially popular in condos because they require no wiring changes and no drilling into strata-restricted surfaces. We install motorized shading in condos, strata buildings, and high-rises across Metro Vancouver.

Do you offer Somfy motorized shades?

Yes. We carry Somfy's Zigbee wire-free, DC, and AC lineup. Somfy shades integrate with major smart-home platforms, and we install everything from single-room Somfy blinds to whole-home Somfy roller shades.
