Motorized blinds in Vancouver

Smart shades for Vancouver condos, high-rises, and homes — built locally, installed and programmed by our own crew. Hardwired or rechargeable-battery motors, app and voice control, sun-tracking automation. Works with Somfy, Lutron, and Control4. Backed by the HT Worry-Free Warranty.

How it's powered

Hardwired or rechargeable battery

Every motorized shade we build runs on one of two power systems. Which one fits depends on your building, your windows, and whether you're in new construction or retrofitting an existing Vancouver condo or home. We spec it with you.

Hardwired motors

Wired into your walls during construction or renovation. No batteries to charge or replace, and nothing visible on the window. The most reliable choice for permanent installations in Vancouver high-rises and pre-wired condo towers — and the standard for whole-home integration with Lutron or Control4.

Rechargeable battery motors

A built-in lithium battery you recharge once or twice a year by USB. No electrical work, no wall opening — the practical retrofit for existing condos and homes in the West End, Fairview, and Mount Pleasant where rewiring isn't worth it. A single charge runs a typical shade for months.

Which one fits your building

New construction or a pre-wired tower points to hardwired. An older building or a finished space points to rechargeable battery. We assess your windows, building access, and automation goals, then recommend the right motor for each opening — not a one-size answer.

Control and automation

01 · Voice control

Control your shades by voice

Raise the living-room shades on your way in the door. Lower the bedroom blinds for the night without getting up. HT Smart Shades work with Alexa, Google Home, and Apple HomeKit, so your shades answer to the same assistant as the rest of your home.

02 · App control

Every shade from your phone

One app controls every motorized shade in your home — individually, by room, or all at once. Set a morning scene and an evening scene. Adjust hard-to-reach floor-to-ceiling windows from the couch. Your phone becomes the remote, and the shades stay in sync.

03 · Automation

Shades that follow the sun

Set it once and stop thinking about it. Sun-tracking automation moves your shades through the day based on the actual sun position — down when the west-facing glass catches the afternoon glare, up when the light softens. It protects furniture and floors from UV and keeps Vancouver's floor-to-ceiling condos comfortable without anyone lifting a finger.

Built for Vancouver

Motorized shades for how Vancouver lives

A Coal Harbour tower, a Kitsilano townhouse, and a Kerrisdale family home each ask something different of a motorized shade. We build and program for all three — and we know the buildings.

Protection

UV protection for high-rise living

Floor-to-ceiling glass in Vancouver condos brings the view — and relentless western sun off the water. Motorized solar and blackout roller shades cut UV and glare, protect furniture and art, and handle the upper windows you can't reach by hand. Many newer Coal Harbour, Yaletown, and Olympic Village towers come pre-wired, so hardwired motors drop straight in.

Reach

Upper-floor windows, handled

Kitsilano and Mount Pleasant townhouses stack windows across two and three floors — the top ones are a stretch to reach, let alone operate. Motorized roller shades put every floor on your phone or a single wall control. Rechargeable battery motors retrofit existing townhomes with no rewiring; hardwired suits new builds.

Privacy

Light and privacy on a schedule

Kerrisdale, Dunbar, and Cambie homes want privacy at street level and light control through the day without fussing with cords. Motorized zebra and roller shades tune both on a schedule — sheer by day, closed by evening — across every room from one app. Custom-built locally to heritage-size and standard openings alike.

Process

Three steps to smart shades

We handle the measurement, motor selection, and installation — then program every shade before we leave. One local team from first measurement to final scene.

01

Measure and spec

We measure every window, assess your building's wiring and access, and recommend the right motor — hardwired or rechargeable battery — for each opening.

02

Built locally

We build your motorized roller shades to exact dimensions in our own facility. Every shade passes the HT Five-Point Check before it ships.

03

Install and program

Our crew installs, pairs the motors to your app and voice assistant, and sets your scenes and sun-tracking schedules. You leave with shades that already work the way you want.

Who installs motorized blinds in Vancouver?

HT Blinds manufactures, installs, and programs motorized roller shades across Vancouver. We build locally and install with our own crew — condos, high-rises, townhouses, and homes from Coal Harbour to Kerrisdale. Works with Somfy, Lutron, and Control4. Call 604-593-5450 or talk to a product specialist at htblinds.ca.

What are smart shades?

HT Smart Shades are our umbrella term for motorized and automated shading — motorized roller shades you control by app, by voice through Alexa, Google Home, or Apple HomeKit, and by sun-tracking automation that moves the shades through the day on a schedule. In Vancouver they’re most common in floor-to-ceiling condos and on hard-to-reach upper-floor windows.

What's the difference between hardwired and battery-powered motorized blinds?

Hardwired motors are wired into the wall during construction or renovation — the most reliable choice for new builds and pre-wired Vancouver towers, with nothing to recharge. Rechargeable battery motors install on any window with no electrical work and recharge by USB once or twice a year — the practical retrofit for existing condos and homes. We recommend the right one for each window.

Do motorized blinds work with Somfy, Lutron, and Control4?

Yes. We build motorized roller shades that work with Somfy, Lutron, and Control4, plus voice control through Alexa, Google Home, and Apple HomeKit. For homes already on a Lutron or Control4 platform, we integrate the shades into your existing whole-home system.

Can you retrofit motorized shades in an existing Vancouver condo?

Yes. Rechargeable battery motors install on existing windows with no rewiring and no wall opening — the standard retrofit for finished condos and homes in the West End, Fairview, and Mount Pleasant. You recharge by USB once or twice a year, and control the shades by app or voice.

Are motorized blinds good for floor-to-ceiling and high-rise windows in Vancouver?

Yes. Motorized roller shades are the most practical option for Vancouver's floor-to-ceiling and high-rise windows — they handle the upper glass you can't reach by hand, and sun-tracking automation cuts the western glare off the water without anyone adjusting them. Many newer Coal Harbour, Yaletown, and Olympic Village towers come pre-wired for hardwired motors.

How much do motorized blinds cost in Vancouver?

Cost depends on window count and size, fabric, motor type (hardwired or rechargeable battery), and the control system. We quote each project after measuring. For a faster quote, include your window count, sizes, whether the building is pre-wired, and whether you want app, voice, or sun-tracking control.

Do you program the shades, or just install the motors?

Both. Our crew installs the shades, pairs the motors to your app and voice assistant, and sets your scenes and sun-tracking schedules before we leave. You leave with motorized blinds that already work the way you want — one local team from measurement to final scene.
