Custom blinds — faux wood, vertical and specialty options

Vancouver’s factory-direct blinds manufacturer. Individual slats that tilt for precise light control and stack for full clearance. Faux wood blinds for kitchens and bathrooms, vertical blinds for sliding doors and wide openings, and specialty options for commercial and institutional projects. Every product is custom-sized and built locally by our own team.

Blinds or Shades?

How blinds compare to shades

Both cover your windows. They work differently. Here's when each makes sense.

When blinds are the right call

You want precise tilt control to direct light angles. Your windows face a bathroom, kitchen, or high-moisture area (faux wood). You need full stack-back clearance for a sliding door (vertical). You prefer a traditional horizontal or vertical slatted look.

When shades are the better fit

You want a clean, minimal look with no visible slats. Your priority is UV protection and glare control (solar roller shades). You want motorized operation with smart-home integration. You’re covering floor-to-ceiling windows where blinds would be heavy and noisy.

Let us help you decide

Most homes end up with a mix — roller shades in the living areas, blackout in the bedrooms, faux wood in the bathroom. We’ll walk you through the options room by room during a free consultation.

Common questions about blinds

What's the difference between faux wood blinds and real wood blinds?

Faux wood blinds use a moisture-resistant composite or PVC with a wood-grain finish. They look like real wood but won’t warp, crack, or fade in humid rooms. They cost less than real wood and are easier to maintain. HT Blinds manufactures faux wood blinds; we do not carry real wood.

Can vertical blinds be motorized?

Vertical blinds are not typically motorized. For wide windows and sliding doors where motorized operation matters, we recommend motorized roller shades or motorized panel-track shades instead. Contact us for a recommendation.

Are aluminum blinds available for residential projects?

Aluminum and metal blinds are specified mainly for commercial, institutional, and healthcare applications where durability and fire rating are requirements. For homes, faux wood blinds give a similar slatted look with a warmer finish. For a commercial project, see our aluminum & metal blinds page or contact our trade team at [email protected].

How long do custom blinds take to manufacture?

Most custom blind orders are ready in 2–3 weeks from the date of measurement. Complex or large-quantity orders may take slightly longer.

Can I measure my own windows for blinds?

Yes. HT Blinds offers a downloadable self-measurement guide. If you prefer professional measurement, we offer free in-home consultations across Metro Vancouver.

Do faux wood blinds look cheap?

No. Modern faux wood blinds use high-quality composite materials with realistic wood-grain textures and stain finishes. Most visitors can’t tell the difference between faux wood and real wood. The trade-off is durability — faux wood handles moisture, heat, and UV better than real wood.
